Abstract

Electromagnetic wavefront-shaping technologies exploit control of photon momentum to perform beam-steering and light-focusing functions. Reciprocally, measurements of photon momentum provide substantial insight into the structure and optical excitations of ordered materials. Research in my group synthesizes these topics and focuses on Engineering and Spectroscopy of Photon Momentum. Activities are divided into two main themes: 1) Achieving reconfigurable metasurfaces and programmable infrared optics with widely tunable high-index semiconductor nanostructures and 2) Developing and exploiting novel momentum-resolved spectroscopies to gain new insight into optical properties of organic and inorganic nanomaterials.
