Spotlight Publication: “Kupffer cell release of platelet activating factor drives dose limiting toxicities of nucleic acid nanocarriers” published in Biomaterials
“Kupffer cell release of platelet activating factor drives dose limiting toxicities of nucleic acid nanocarriers” published in Biomaterials has been selected as a VINSE spotlight publication.
About the author: Meredith Jackson earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in May 2019 under the direction of Dr. Craig Duvall. Meredith studied ways to improve the therapeutic window of polymer nanoparticles for systemic delivery of siRNA. In recently published work, she and her first co-author, Shrusti Patel, a current Ph.D. candidate in the Duvall lab, found that at high doses, siRNA delivery vehicles can cause Kupffer cells in the liver to release platelet activating factor, which can result in severe toxicities. Meredith is now a staff scientist at Seattle Children’s Therapeutics.
