Spotlight Publication: “Filterless Nondispersive Infrared Sensing Using Narrowband Infrared Emitting Metamaterials” in ACS Photonics
“Filterless Nondispersive Infrared Sensing Using Narrowband Infrared Emitting Metamaterials” published in ACS Photonics has been selected as a VINSE spotlight publication.
About the author: Alyssa was an VINSE NSF REU fellow studying in the Caldwell Lab in 2019. In recently published work, she and her first co-author, Ryan Nolen, a former Ph.D. student working in the Caldwell Lab, realized a simple and cost-effective platform for achieving tunable, highly emissive, narrowband thermal emitters. They then show how these emitters are suitable plug-and-play replacements in conventional, filtered, nondispersive infrared gas sensing devices by providing a proof-of-concept for CO2 gas sensing showing similar sensitivity to the conventional blackbody/filter combination. Alyssa is currently studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Kentucky.
