Richarda Niemann joined the lab as a postdoc in the fall of 2024. After studying Physics at the University of Duesseldorf in Germany, she moved to the Fritz Haber Institute Berlin for her PhD. There, she studied surface phonon polaritons with sum-frequency generation microscopy. Her current research focuses on single photons, with projects aiming for the deterministic creation of single photon emitters as well as the realization of mid-infrared single photon detectors operating at room temperature.
