Consonants

In these audio files, you can hear each consonant pronounced individually. The speaker begins by articulating the consonant in isolation before pronouncing it within a word as it appears in the text of Philomena. We recommend repeating each word in the pauses provided to refine your approximation of the speaker’s pronunciation.

Each audio file’s title contains a number that corresponds to the line in which the spoken word appears in the poem.

Where multiple written characters produce the same sound, the different consonants are separated by a slash (e.g. c / k / qu).
