National Center on Scaling Up Effective Schools

Our Team

The National Center on Scaling Up Effective Schools is a collaborative partnership between research universities, intervention development specialists, and two large urban districts.

Our team is nationally-recognized and has expertise across a range of different areas, and is supported by top research and technical assistance organizations such as Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Florida State University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Georgia State University and the Education Development Center. Our partner districts have achieved national recognition for their efforts to improve chronically low-performing schools.

Involving partners from the participating districts on the design team takes advantage of local expertise, helps to ensure that practices are aligned with the district’s current goals and initiatives, and helps to bring legitimacy to the process. Absent attention to these processes, effective practices will continue to be identified but with little hope that they can be brought to scale with depth and sustainability.
