The IRB forms from the Trajectories in Learning to Teach (TLT) work have been transitioned to the Common Rule and also into RedCap.
The TLT study generally involves two kinds of folks:
- DTL faculty who are studying their work with students in their courses, and
- Teacher candidates who are learning to teach and capturing video for the purpose of submission of licensure requirements for edTPA.
The key changes in the consent process from Fall 2020 are:
- Common Rule– These common rule forms do not have an expiration date, so we anticipate being able to use them again until we hear from the IRB.
- REDCap– Parents, students, and faculty can now be all consented through REDCap, which means a reduction in paper forms.
Everyone participating in the study as Key Study Personnel needs to keep their KSP training up-to-date. This is true if you have teacher candidates using forms and/or if you’re using them yourself. Log in here: https://irb.app.vumc.org to find out when yours is due. If you need to do the first course to be added as a new KSP, please do. If you need to do your yearly training update, please complete a refresher course, here: https://www.vumc.org/irb/node/169. When you have finished the necessary training to become or maintain KSP status, send the completed certificate to trainingcertificates@vumc.org so that your training gets updated in the system.
