All hosted Virtual Machines migrate to a new vSwitch

Posted by on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in Outage.

Beginning Thursday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. and ending Friday, Oct. 14, at 8 a.m., Vanderbilt IT will migrate all VUIT virtual machines (VMs) from the existing vSwitch to a newly provisioned vSwitch that supports sFlow. This migration is part of the transition to FireScope, the new discovery/monitoring tool that will be deployed as part of the ITSM project. VMs affected by this change are included in the attachment.

Users of impacted VMs will experience a momentary network outage as they are transitioned from the old vSwitch to the new vSwitch. This brief outage should not impact other servers or services.
