VUMC IT to migrate routing and switching to new VUH data center routers

Posted by on Friday, February 17, 2017 in Outage.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, from 4 to 11 a.m., VUMC IT will perform change C0068671 (pegasus.mc.vanderbilt.edu/ViewChange.aspx?id=C0068671). This change covers the work required to migrate all layer-3 and layer-2 components from the legacy Cisco Catalyst 6509 and Catalyst 6513 routers to the new Cisco Nexus 7710 routers. There will be a rolling outage for every network within the Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) Data Center. This outage will begin at 6:30 a.m., will continue until all networks have been migrated and should last no longer than five minutes per network.

Affected groups must ensure that testers are available to verify reachability and functionality of the applications and services they support after the change has been completed.  A testing conference call has been established for users to obtain progress updates and technical assistance if needed.

  • The testing bridge will begin at 4 a.m. and will last until 11 a.m.

o   Call (888) 446-7584

o   Participant Code: 302654

  • Testers are not required to join the testing conference bridge. However, VUMC IT strongly recommends that all application/device owners test reachability, application functionality and any dependencies related to VUH Data Center immediately after the networks have been migrated.
