VUIT to shut down legacy DNS servers beginning Jan. 17
The following message impacts owners of systems operating on Domain Name Service (DNS) infrastructure.
Beginning Jan. 17, Vanderbilt IT will begin shutting down legacy DNS servers to shift all users to new DNS servers. This change will only impact systems that have not yet moved to the new DNS servers.
VUIT will conduct a series of limited-duration service stoppages in advance of the complete shutdown of the old servers. Through these temporary service disruptions, individual owners will be able to identify systems that have not yet moved to the new DNS infrastructure, and VUIT can make any necessary modifications.
The schedule for these temporary shutdowns is as follows:
- Tuesday, Jan. 17, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Thursday, Jan. 19, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, Jan. 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
University devices currently configured to resolve against:
- 129.59.1.10
- 129.59.2.10
- 129.59.1.9
- 129.59.2.9
- 129.59.1.7
- 129.59.2.7
will need to be reconfigured to resolve against:
- 10.2.189.78
- 10.4.162.82
