VU-WiSE Outreach has focused on increasing the community awareness of the contribution of women in scientific research while engaging individuals of all ages in scientific hands-on experience. We have identified several community collaborations with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters Middle Tennessee (BBBS-MT), VSSM, Room in the Inn, and the Rutherford County school district, and have provided age-appropriate science experiences to each group through the work of our Outreach volunteers. These science experiences have included everything from science experiments to short volunteer-taught lessons and have generated an invaluable connection between VU-WiSE Outreach and the greater Nashville community. We are always looking for more volunteers to make our presence in the community more impactful!
