PASL Team Bingo

Overview

A low-pressure, high-impact activity to boost camaraderie and morale among team members.

Purpose

Educator Team members work as a team toward the benefit of the students, but also benefit from positive relationships among themselves. Research shows that teachers participating in strong professional communities are more likely to influence and implement changes in instructional practices. PASL Educator Team meetings may be the only time teachers meet to collaborate, and fostering these relationships helps to boost the quality of this collaboration.

Activities that begin conversations and relieve tension can inspire renewed feelings of connection, furthering a shared focus and commitment to positive outcomes. So let’s have fun!

Implementation

20-minute lesson to be used at the beginning of the academic year to promote introductions and connections among team members.

Details

  • Prior to the meeting, PASL Coordinator asks each team member for one random fact about themselves that they believe no one else would know.
  • PASL Coordinator then takes these facts and creates a BINGO card (using the blank BINGO card provided).
  • Just before or during the meeting, distribute the cards and allow time to encourage conversation among team members. As a fact is matched to a team member, that member’s name is written in the corresponding box.
  • The first team member to achieve BINGO wins!
  • The prize offered, if any, is at the discretion of the Coordinator.

Connection to other components

PASL Team BINGO connects to the school Culture of Personalization by providing chances for teachers, administrators, and other PASL team members to become better acquainted with each other.
