Vanderbilt Alternative Spring Break is a student-run service organization that empowers students from all corners of Vanderbilt’s campus in an ongoing process of education, service, and reflection. Leading up to the week of service, each site meets to learn history, relevance, and important context regarding its theme. Participants are equipped with principles of social justice and responsible volunteering in order to engage with an issue falling into one of the four family groups. This experience has the potential to transform participants’ views of themselves, their Vanderbilt community, and the world.

 OUR MISSION

Vanderbilt Alternative Spring Break motivates students to become active citizens through intentional community engagement. We believe that active citizenship occurs through a continuous journey of education, service, and reflection and equip participants with the necessary skills to incorporate these principles into their daily lives. This way, we can continue to positively engage with diverse communities on ASB, and beyond.
