Professors James Guthrie and Mark Cannon of Vanderbilt University and The RAND Corporation’s Janet Hansen met with Iowa’s Institute for Tomorrow’s Workforce as it undertakes the design of a statewide performance incentive program for public school teachers. Iowa’s legislature recently funded a $1 million study, led by the institute, to examine the development of the statewide program. Guthrie and Hansen are key consultants for this initiative, providing their expertise as Iowa prepares to roll out a reformed teacher compensation plan during the 2007-08 school year.
