Former members

Dr. Mingze He joined the Caldwell Lab from the fall semester of 2018 as a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt. He comes to us from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, where he majored in Electrical Engineering.

Dr. Guanyu Lu joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at Vanderbilt University and the Caldwell Lab in Fall 2018. He comes to us from Xi’an Jiaotong University in China, where he majored in Energy and Power Engineering.

Dr. Joseph Matson joined the Caldwell Lab during the Summer of 2017 as a student in the Interdisciplinary Materials Science Program at Vanderbilt. He comes to us from Hendrix College, where he majored in Physics with a minor in Computer Science.

Dr. Ryan Nolen joined the Vanderbilt Interdisciplinary Materials Science Department in Fall 2016 and joined the Caldwell Lab in Summer of 2017. He comes to us from Lipscomb University, where he double majored in Physics and Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Tom Folland (Postdoctoral Fellow). Joined the Caldwell Lab at the very beginning, was critical to getting the lab setup and initial results getting accumulated. He comes to us from University of Manchester in the UK, where he did his PhD work on THz quantum cascade lasers.

Luke Kim is a senior at Vanderbilt university studying mechanical engineering with a minor in digital fabrication. Currently I am conducting research to understand defects in SiC using electroluminesce.
