- National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research: The National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) brings together four of the nation’s leading research funders — the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) — to address the problem of childhood obesity in America.
- PhenXToolkit: Collection of validated survey instruments for all topical areas of global health.
- National Cancer Institute: Applied Research: Collection of data collection methods, data use procedures, data analysis tools and measures. Mostly focuses on nutrition, cancer, patient care, and economics.
- Sample Size Calculator: Helps calculate sample size based on power and population. Probably more helpful for baseline data collection or needs assessments.
Free Online Courses
- The Challenges of Global Health: An introduction to key challenges and concepts important to understanding the current status and determinants of global health.
- Mental Health: A Global Priority: This course is designed to help you develop a broader understanding of mental health and illness from a global perspective.
- Questionnaire Design for Social Surveys: This course will cover the basic elements of designing and evaluating questionnaires.
- Epidemiology: The Basic Science of Public Health: Often called “the cornerstone” of public health, epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of diseases, health conditions, or events among populations and the application of that study to control health problems.
- Unite for Sight Expert Panel Webinars: Global Health University at Unite for Sight offers free webinars with leading experts in global health and social entrepreneurship. Each webinar includes a panel of 4-9 experts who answer audience questions related to the webinar topic.
- Johns Hopkins Open Courseware: Open public health courses and materials.
- Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) Educational Modules: CUGH seeks to develop, collect, and distribute high quality global health educational materials; define standards and competencies in global health education; and address the needs of students, educators, and trainees as they seek to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become global health leaders.
