NCPI affiliate researcher writes about New York City’s proposed performance pay plan in Christian Science Monitor

NCPI affiliate reseacher Julia Koppich recently published an article in the Christian Science Monitor about New York City’s proposed performance pay plan. The commentary, entitled “For better schools, look to the Big Apple,” addresses aspects of New York’s plan that Dr. Koppich believes will make it successful. In particular, Dr. Koppich applauds the voluntary nature of the program, resulting in greater teacher buy in, an essential ingredient for successful pay for performance programs. Additionally, teachers in New York City will receive awards based on school achievement, thereby encouraging teacher collaboration.
