NCPI researchers present at APPAM

Matthew G. Springer, Michael Podgursky, and Martin West presented findings from their analysis of the Schools and Staffing Surveys (SASS) at the fall conference of the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management. Their paper, “The Diffusion of Teacher Performance Pay: Evidence from Multiple Waves of SASS” uses various waves of SASS to track the size and incidence of bonus payments over the last decade in U.S. public schools. The researchers found evidence that market- and performance-based teacher pay bonuses are growing in importance, particularly in schools serving low income children.
