NCPI researcher Michael J. Podgurksy was a presenter at the EdVoice Legislative Policy Symposium on November 3-4, 2007. Professor Podgursky spoke about teacher pay in a session entitled, “High Quality Teachers: How Policy Shapes the Human Capital Landscape of our Public Schools.” The session looked at how the current system of teacher compensation and retention supports effective teachers for all students, exploring the incentives in the salary and pension systems, as well as inequalities of teacher distribution. Other session presenters included Marguerite Roza, Dominic Caserta and Ricardo Lara.
