Project Approved

Members of the Metropolitan Nashville Education Association (MNEA) voted overwhelmingly to take part in NCPI’s randomized field trial that will examine the effectiveness of paying incentive bonuses to educators who improve student performance. The vote resulted in a memorandum of Understanding between the district’s administration, school board, and the MNEA supporting operation of the three-year project. 70 percent of eligible teachers are participating in the study that will give bonuses ranging from five to fifteen thousand dollars to some teachers based on their students’ standardized test score gains.
