Virtual Reality

The construction drawings are very helpful for visualizing the structure of the DADU, but they don’t give potential users and investors a chance to see how the DADU interacts with their environment. Virtual reality (VR) is a very useful way to help potential DADU owners see how the DADU will interact with their home environment. Using a VR headset and system, users can walk through space and interact with objects.

We created a virtual mock-up of a neighborhood, laying out transportation, the main residence, and the DADU. The user starts the simulation by being placed on the street, facing the main residence. The fence door opens to the property and the user can use the controllers to walk up to the main residence. They can step into the residence to survey how the DADU looks from the back window peering into the backyard, as well as walk through the rest of the residence to get the sense of being at home

Here is a virtual reality walkthrough to show our vision of a simple model of a DADU in your backyard. You can also see how transportation plays a factor with a very accessible route within walking distance of your home. Not only is public transportation easily accessible, but you also have street parking available in your neighborhood.
