Our sponsor, Booz Allen Hamilton, challenged us to create an environmentally friendly device that detected forest fires and relayed this information back to the rangers station. Since studies show that 90% of wildfires are caused by humans, they also wanted some aspect of human detection in the device. While Booz Allen Hamilton eventually wants our device to be apart of a network of devices, our project was meant to be limited to proof of concept of one device and not the whole network. This would ideally be demonstrated with following senior design projects.
